Amy Irene is a women's health and pelvic physical therapy specialist with advanced training. She has specialized in this area of physical therapy since 1997 and it is over 50% of her practice. Patient treatment includes working with men and women who have pelvic pain and incontinence, and are recovering from pelvic surgery. Amy Irene also works with children who have voiding dysfunction including day and night wetting, and urine retention problems. Prevention has been an important focus for Amy Irene as she teaches childbirth preparation and pregnancy/postpartum fitness classes. She is also an avid community speaker educating groups about physical therapy treatment options for pelvic muscle dysfunction and women's health issues.
Amy Irene also has considerable experience in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy. She has completed training in manual therapy, movement dysfunction, and core strengthening. Practicing on the Olympic Peninsula, Amy Irene works with active seniors, work injuries, outdoor sporting injuries, and post-surgical rehabilitation.
Prior to moving to Port Townsend, WA, Amy Irene worked at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle where she gained experience working in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient orthopedic settings. Amy Irene purchased Discovery Physical Therapy in 2007 because she enjoyed the mission, positive working environment, and community so much.
